All Mac models released since mid-2011 are 64-bit only. This includes the mid-2010 Mac Pro, the early 2011 MacBook Pro, and the mid-2011 iMac, which were booting by default on 64-bit mode with Snow Leopard. Any Mac model that has an Intel Core Solo or Intel Core Duo processor is 32-bit only. All other processors will be 64-bit. Please note that 32-bit has been incompatible with Macs since macOS Catalina. If you need to check if your Mac’s processor is 64-bit or 32-bit, you can go to the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. Below the computer model name, you’ll see your processor.

  • Logic Pro X 10.2.4 was the latest version compatible with macOS 10.9 Mavericks and macOS 10.10 Yosemite.
  • Logic Pro X 10.3.3 was the latest version compatible with macOS 10.11 El Capitan.
  • Logic Pro X 10.4.8 was the latest version compatible with macOS 10.12 Sierra and macOS 10.13 High Sierra.
  • Logic Pro 10.5.x requires macOS Mojave.
  • Logic Pro 10.6.x requires macOS Catalina. As of June 10, 2022, Logic 10.6.3 can be installed on Catalina.
  • The latest version of Logic at the time of writing was Logic Pro for Mac 10.8.12. This version requires macOS 13.5 or later, a Mac with Apple Silicon for specific features like Stem Splitter and ChromaGlow, and a minimum of 6GB of free space with an additional 72GB available for the full Sound Library installation3.

Netflix

The requirements for Netflix on a Mac are as follows:

  • Processor: An Intel-based processor with a minimum speed of 1.6GHz.

For 4K streaming, only Macs with a T2 Security chip can transcode HEVC video fast enough to support 4K Netflix. You’ll also need to have a Netflix Premium subscription to access Netflix’s 4K streams. Note that only Safari 14 can play Netflix in 4K on Mac; all other browsers will play in HD resolutions.
