Turning off Find My on your iPhone helps you prepare to sell or give your iPhone away effectively.
Find My for iPhone is a powerful and convenient feature developed by Apple that allows users to locate their Mac computers in case they are lost or stolen. It integrates seamlessly with the Find My app, available on iOS devices, making it easier than ever to track down a missing iPhone.
By enabling Find My on an iPhone, users can pinpoint its exact location on a map and receive real-time updates on its whereabouts. This feature not only provides peace of mind but also assists in the recovery process, allowing users to remotely lock their iPhones, display custom messages on the screen, or erase all data to safeguard their personal information. Find My for iPhone is a valuable tool that ensures the safety and security of one’s digital life.
Once you have completed these steps, Find My will be disabled on your iPhone. Please note that disabling Find My will prevent you from using certain features like Find My iPhone, Lost Mode, and Activation Lock.
Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone’s home screen.
Tap on your Apple ID banner at the top of the Settings menu. It usually contains your name and profile picture.
In the Apple ID settings, scroll down and tap on “Find My.”
You will see two options: “Find My iPhone” and “Send Last Location.” Tap on “Find My iPhone.”
On the next screen, you will find a toggle switch labeled “Find My iPhone.” Tap on it to disable the feature.
A confirmation prompt will appear, asking you to enter your Apple ID password. Enter your password and tap “Turn Off.”

Why Would I Turn Off Find My iPhone?
There can be several reasons why someone might choose to turn off Find My iPhone on their device. Here are a few possible explanations:
Privacy Concerns: Some individuals may have concerns about their privacy and do not wish to share their location information with Apple or other parties. By disabling Find My iPhone, they can have greater control over their personal data and minimize the chances of unauthorized access to their location.
Battery Life Preservation: Find My iPhone relies on location services, which can consume a significant amount of battery power. If someone is experiencing battery drain issues or wants to conserve battery life, they may choose to disable the feature to reduce the strain on their device.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance: In certain cases, turning off Find My iPhone might be necessary when performing software updates, restoring the device, or troubleshooting software issues. Disabling the feature temporarily can help ensure a smoother process without any interference.
Selling or Transferring Ownership: When selling or transferring ownership of an iPhone, it’s advisable to disable Find My iPhone. This prevents the new owner from encountering any activation lock issues when setting up the device under their own Apple ID. It also allows the previous owner to remove the device from their iCloud account.
Traveling to Restricted Areas: In some regions or countries, the use of location-based services may be restricted or prohibited due to local regulations or security concerns. If someone is traveling to such an area, they might need to turn off Find My iPhone to comply with local regulations or avoid potential legal complications.
Temporary Disabling for Personal Reasons: There could be personal circumstances or specific situations where temporarily disabling Find My iPhone is preferred. For instance, during a social event, a person may wish to have privacy and not be continuously tracked by others.
It’s important to note that disabling Find My iPhone has its implications. It removes the ability to track the device’s location in case of loss or theft and disables features like Lost Mode and Activation Lock, which provide added security. Therefore, it’s crucial to carefully consider the implications and potential risks before disabling Find My iPhone.

I needed to get my cracked displayed repaired on my MacBook. This was my experience with the Apple Store in Cherry Creek: - First go to the store for a diagnostic appointment where they confirmed that my screen was indeed cracked - They order the part and set up an appointment for me to come drop my computer off 5 days later. - Despite having an appointment, I waited over an hour and had to leave due to restraints. They then released the part and I had to start the process over again with a new diagnostic appointment (as if my screen wasn't still broken) With Denver Mac Repair: - Dropped it off at 5:30PM Friday afternoon - Was ready for pickup Monday at 3pm Not to mention they were ~$70 cheaper than Apple. These guys are legends, support local and go here.

Truly Exceptional Service After more than six years, I finally got my MacBook Pro back to life—and I couldn’t be more grateful to Denver Mac Repair. The staff was absolutely awesome: knowledgeable, skilled, professional, honest, and genuinely caring. In a world where people with true expertise and integrity can feel increasingly rare, these guys reminded me that they still exist. They didn’t just repair my computer—they woke it back up after six years and brought back something I had almost given up on. That meant a lot to me. Thank you, Denver Mac Repair, for your incredible work and for treating me with such honesty and professionalism. You guys are truly the best, and I highly recommend you to anyone who needs Mac repair!

All I can say is wow! My son accidentally dropped his iPhone in a river while on a backpacking trip. Turns out his iCloud backup had not been set up properly, and three years of pictures had been potentially lost. The guys at Denver Mac Repair got everything up and running and transferred to a new phone. These guys are awesome, knowledgeable, professional, and their pricing was very fair. Thank you!

Incredible neighborhood computer store. My dad worked with one company for my whole childhood, and i spent a LOT of time with him have only found big box stores since, so i've been looking for a space that is as supportive as that business from my childhood....and I found it here! Great technicians, who share information freely and without arrogance, great prices and better location. Love this store

I had a great experience, I dropped my iPhone in the hotel pool and it wouldn't turn back on. My cloud storage was full and Mac said they could do nothing about my files. I took my phone to Denver Mac and Christopher said they'd try to get the data off for me, he seemed very positive even said it worked 90% of the time. Two days later I got a call from AJ and he had all my family's vacation photos on a thumb stick and back to me before our flight. Christopher and AJ were both friendly and awesome! I don't know if I'll be back to Denver but if anyone is headed that way with an iPhone Denver Mac is the place.

Super impressed! My son lost some keys on his Mac book. Apple quoted us $800 and weren’t sure they could even be fixed. Denver Mac repair had it done within hours and we only paid $35. Will definitely be back!
