Performing a hard reset on your iPhone can resolve a number of issues without erasing the data from your iPhone.
Hard resetting an iPhone and restoring it are two different actions with distinct purposes. Hard resetting is a method to force restart the device when it becomes unresponsive or encounters software issues. It is a quick and simple procedure that doesn’t erase your data or settings. On the other hand, restoring an iPhone refers to the process of erasing all content and settings, essentially bringing it back to its factory state. This is typically done when you want to start afresh, resolve persistent software problems, or prepare the device for resale.
Restoring requires you to back up your data beforehand, as it will be completely wiped during the process. Whether you choose to reset or restore your iPhone depends on the specific situation and desired outcome.

How do I hard reset my iPhone?
To perform a hard reset on an iPhone, you can follow these steps:
Depending on your iPhone model, the steps to perform a hard reset may vary. Here are the common methods:
For iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button, then press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Finally, press and hold the Power button until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
For iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Simultaneously press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
For iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, or older models: Simultaneously press and hold the Power button and the Home button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
Make sure to keep holding the buttons until you see the Apple logo. This usually takes around 10 seconds.
Once the Apple logo appears, release the buttons and let the iPhone continue its startup process.
After the reset, your iPhone should restart and function normally. You may need to enter your passcode to unlock it, depending on your device’s security settings.
If doing a reset does not resolve the issue, Denver Mac Repair can perform a diagnostic and repair on your iPhone. No Appointment Needed!
Why perform a hard reset on an iPhone?
There are several reasons why someone might choose to hard reset their iPhone. Here are some common scenarios where a hard reset can be beneficial:
Unresponsive or Frozen Device: If your iPhone becomes unresponsive or freezes, a hard reset can help resolve the issue. By forcibly restarting the device, it clears any temporary software glitches or conflicts that may have caused the problem. It’s a simple and effective troubleshooting step to bring your iPhone back to a responsive state.
App or System Malfunction: Sometimes, certain apps or the operating system itself may malfunction, causing performance issues or crashes. In such cases, a hard reset can help by closing all running apps and refreshing the system. It allows the device to start afresh, potentially resolving any software-related problems.
Battery Drain or Overheating: If you notice that your iPhone’s battery drains quickly or it becomes excessively hot, a hard reset can be worth trying. Sometimes, background processes or apps can cause abnormal battery usage or overheating. By performing a hard reset, you can halt those processes and potentially alleviate the issue.
Network or Connectivity Problems: When facing network connectivity issues like Wi-Fi or cellular signal problems, a hard reset can be a helpful step. It can refresh the network settings and establish a new connection with the available networks. This can resolve minor network-related issues that might be hindering your iPhone’s connectivity.
Touchscreen or Button Malfunction: In situations where the touchscreen or physical buttons on your iPhone are not working properly, a hard reset can serve as a temporary solution. By restarting the device, it can recalibrate the touchscreen or resolve any temporary issues with the buttons.
Overall Performance Improvement: Over time, an iPhone may start to exhibit sluggishness or performance degradation. Performing a hard reset can help clear out any accumulated temporary files or processes, which can enhance the device’s overall performance.
It’s important to note that a hard reset should be considered as a troubleshooting step for software-related issues. It does not fix hardware problems, such as a broken screen or a faulty battery. If your iPhone continues to have persistent issues even after a hard reset, it might be necessary to seek professional assistance.
Remember to back up your important data regularly to prevent any potential data loss during a hard reset or other troubleshooting procedures.

I needed to get my cracked displayed repaired on my MacBook. This was my experience with the Apple Store in Cherry Creek: - First go to the store for a diagnostic appointment where they confirmed that my screen was indeed cracked - They order the part and set up an appointment for me to come drop my computer off 5 days later. - Despite having an appointment, I waited over an hour and had to leave due to restraints. They then released the part and I had to start the process over again with a new diagnostic appointment (as if my screen wasn't still broken) With Denver Mac Repair: - Dropped it off at 5:30PM Friday afternoon - Was ready for pickup Monday at 3pm Not to mention they were ~$70 cheaper than Apple. These guys are legends, support local and go here.

All I can say is wow! My son accidentally dropped his iPhone in a river while on a backpacking trip. Turns out his iCloud backup had not been set up properly, and three years of pictures had been potentially lost. The guys at Denver Mac Repair got everything up and running and transferred to a new phone. These guys are awesome, knowledgeable, professional, and their pricing was very fair. Thank you!

Incredible neighborhood computer store. My dad worked with one company for my whole childhood, and i spent a LOT of time with him have only found big box stores since, so i've been looking for a space that is as supportive as that business from my childhood....and I found it here! Great technicians, who share information freely and without arrogance, great prices and better location. Love this store

I had a great experience, I dropped my iPhone in the hotel pool and it wouldn't turn back on. My cloud storage was full and Mac said they could do nothing about my files. I took my phone to Denver Mac and Christopher said they'd try to get the data off for me, he seemed very positive even said it worked 90% of the time. Two days later I got a call from AJ and he had all my family's vacation photos on a thumb stick and back to me before our flight. Christopher and AJ were both friendly and awesome! I don't know if I'll be back to Denver but if anyone is headed that way with an iPhone Denver Mac is the place.

Super impressed! My son lost some keys on his Mac book. Apple quoted us $800 and weren’t sure they could even be fixed. Denver Mac repair had it done within hours and we only paid $35. Will definitely be back!
